USS Iowa, San Pedro CA

The USS Iowa is a battleship docked in the Los Angeles Harbor. (http://www.pacificbattleship.com/) The battleship is open every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas. From September to May, its operating hours are 10am to 5pm. From June to August, its operating hours are 9am to 5pm.

Tickets are $18 general admission, $10 for kids between 6 and 17, and $15 for seniors (62+) and active/retired/reserve military with ID.

My family really enjoyed visiting the Iowa. We visited in the middle of the week, on a Wednesday around 2 in the afternoon. It was not too crowded, maybe a maximum of 10 people at any one location. We spent about 1 1/2 hours touring the battleship. There were A LOT of stairs. The ship is NOT currently ADA accessible (see examples below), although they are still doing work on the ship so that parts of it will become accessible. There are staircases to walk up and down, and doors that require quite a large step to get through. The self guided tour slowly winds its way up several levels and then back down, so be prepared to navigate through some small spaces and up and down narrow staircases.

The current tours require the ability to navigate many stairs.
